1 Other Train Service Updates
  • This year?s NATO summit in Newport sees the greatest congregation of world leaders that the UK has ever hosted, giving Wales a great promotional opportunity on a global stage. The core NATO countries that have been invited (28 member states) will also be accompanied by an additional 53 additional countries receiving invites (potential 10,000 delegates) and Arriva Trains Wales is ready to help promote Wales to a global audience.

During the summit, regular passengers on Arriva Trains Wales services may find that services are a little busier than usual, due to the high volume of people choosing not to use the road system. We have planned additional capacity on key routes in order to ensure a good quality journey experience despite the potential increased passenger volume. We have plenty of staff available on the key days of the summit in order to support visitors to both Newport and Cardiff, and to provide extra information and customer service to those who may require additional help. We politely suggest that as station access and train services may be a little different from usual, customers consider the following during the summit period:

    • Plan your rail travel and buy your ticket as far in advance as possible, prior to the day of travel. This will make journeys easier for new customers and regular passengers alike.
    • Check whether your usual access route to our stations may have been altered, and you can find information on any relevant changes here.
    • Allow a little more time for your journey and check for any changes to services by using Arriva Trains Wales journey check, available here.
