Improvement WorkImprovement Work
Planned engineering work will take place between Manchester Piccadilly and Ardwick/Levenshulme/Mauldeth Road from 00:55, Sunday 17 May 2026 to 12:30, Sunday 17 May 2026.
Some services will be revised. UNTIL 1230
Manchester Piccadilly- Sheffield: Trains will be diverted to start from Stockport.
Sheffield Manchester Piccadilly: Trains will be diverted to terminate at Stockport.
Buses will be provided between Manchester Piccadilly and Chinley.
Manchester Piccadilly Hadfield/Glossop: Trains will not run.
Buses will be provided between Manchester Piccadilly and Hadfield/Glossop, serving all stations except Hattersley and Broadbottom. A mini-bus shuttle service will be provided between Godley and Hadfield, calling at Hattersley, Broadbottom, Glossop and Dinting.
Manchester Blackpool North: Trains will run to an amended timetable between Manchester Oxford Road and Blackpool North.
Manchester Barrow-in-Furness/Windermere: Trains will run between Manchester Oxford Road and Barrow-in-Furness/Windermere.
Express buses will be provided between Bolton and Manchester Airport.
Manchester Piccadilly Crewe via Manchester Airport: Trains will run between Stockport and Manchester Airport/Crewe.
Crewe Manchester Piccadilly via Manchester Airport: Trains will run between Crewe/Manchester Airport and Stockport.
Buses will be provided between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport and between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport as part of a cross-industry alternative transport plan.
Manchester Piccadilly Buxton: Trains will run to an amended timetable between Stockport and Buxton.
Buxton Manchester Piccadilly: Trains will run to an amended timetable between Buxton and Stockport.
Buses will be provided between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport, as part of a cross-industry alternative transport plan.
Manchester Piccadilly Chester: Trains will not run.

When the ticket office is closed, customers are advised to purchase their ticket from the ticket vending machines or from the Northern app prior to boarding the train. Customers wishing to pay using cash are advised to collect a 'Promise To Pay' voucher from the ticket vending machine main menu, and present this to the Conductor on the train who will be happy to issue the required tickets.
