High temperatures are forecast throughout the UK this week and may affect how our trains operate.
To keep trains running reliably, Northern will be introducing a reduced timetable, and temporary speed restrictions will be in place on some routes. You can find specific details regarding the affected routes below.
Extreme heat can affect train performance and reliability, so we're making these adjustments to help maintain a consistent service.
Customer Advice:
If you're travelling this week, please check your full journey, including connections, before you travel. There will be disruption to services and some trains will not run. Those services that do run are expected to be busier than usual.
Please do not board a train if you feel unwell - seek assistance.
Try to travel with a bottle of water to help stay hydrated.

Customers travelling to and from the Greater Manchester area:
Due to the continued extreme heat, we have significantly reduced the number of trains running on routes in and out of Manchester, and services remain in high demand.
We strongly recommend customers consider whether their journey is necessary and if customers do choose to travel this week, they are advised to prepare for significantly longer waiting times, busy trains and short-notice cancellations.
We would ask all customers to only travel if your journey is absolutely essential and to check your full journey before setting off.
We know some of our customers still need to travel, and we are doing everything we can to keep people moving as efficiently as possible.
Ticket Easements:
A national ticket easement policy is in place across train operators.
If you have a Northern ticket dated Wednesday 24th, Thursday 25th June or Friday 26th June, you can use it instead to travel up to and including Tuesday 30th June. You can also use your ticket to travel earlier in the day on 24th, 25th and 26th June.
