This service offers the ability to register for the automatic provision of train service disruption information via SMS and email. The information supplied comes directly from staff in the Abellio ScotRail Limited Operational Control Centre in Glasgow.
This service was developed by Nexus Alpha Limited, and is being provided to you by Abellio ScotRail Limited.
Although Abellio ScotRail Limited will take considerable effort to ensure that the service we provide to you is of good quality, there may be difficulties that can affect the service. Neither Abellio ScotRail Limited or Nexus Alpha Limited provide any warranties or accept any liability whatsoever for any loss or damage you may suffer as a result of any defects, omissions or errors in the service.
The very nature of train service disruption information means that it can take time for network and service problems to be reported back to the Operational Control Centre, who then enter the information into the JourneyCheck Alerts system. Also, the nature of service disruption means that on occasion it can change quite rapidly. Disruption information is by nature an imprecise process, as the future is predicted from the present position:
- Incidents can take longer to resolve than initially expected.
- delays can become more severe.
- cancelled services may be reinstated.
The JourneyCheck Alerts service provides an "as is" snapshot of the state of the network in the context of the journey you have defined and at the time you have registered to be alerted.
Abellio ScotRail Limited and Nexus Alpha Limited reserve the right to terminate your subscription to this service at their discretion. However in doing so, Abellio ScotRail Limited will refund any advance payment made for the service should such a charge have been made.
The service is provided for the personal use of passengers and potential passengers of the transport system to enquire about journeys, and for no other purpose.
- It is possible to register for a maximum of four different journeys. An outward and return journey on the same train count as two journeys; those who have to change trains as part of their journey will need to register each part of the journey separately.
- A mobile phone number or email address can only be registered once.
- Note that SMS messages are typically restricted to 160 characters, and therefore will be in abbreviated format and may not list all the problems.
- The SMS service abbreviates station names to the three letter codes used on www.nationalrail.co.uk.

The JourneyCheck Alert service uses a defined set of rules to determine what message to send when there are a number of different incidents likely to affect your journey:
- Priority is given to cancellations over train delays.
- Cancellations to later trains will take priority for alert over earlier delayed services.
- Where more general problems are reported on a particular route, the message will state that cancellations or delays "may" occur as appropriate.
This service is being provided by Abellio ScotRail Limited with no intended cost to the end user. The standard cost of sending a text message within the United Kingdom is met by Abellio ScotRail Limited. However, it is possible that your mobile operator may charge you to receive SMS messages. This is very often the case for receiving text messages when you are abroad. We would encourage you to suspend your alerts when you are on holiday. Similarly the subscriber should be aware that whilst the "desktop" delivery of emails is generally free, the delivery of emails to mobile devices can incur charges from your mobile service operator.
Not withstanding, Abellio ScotRail Limited reserve the right to review the pricing policy in the future. Notice will be given in advance to all subscribers should any changes in pricing policy take place, and no charges would be raised without a re-subscription process.
Abellio ScotRail Limited and Nexus Alpha Limited treat the personal data you supply in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. Nexus Alpha Limited will only use the personal data you provide in order to provide the JourneyCheck Alerts Service. If you authorise it, Abellio ScotRail Limited may use the information you register to contact you from time to time with details of other products and offers that they think may be of interest to you.

Information you have entered via this website may be deleted if the service is not used for the period of no less than one year.

The purpose of insisting on this part of the registration process is to prevent computers registering multiple users automatically for malicious reasons. Sadly this is a common problem for websites these days and this is one of the few methods available to circumvent these systems.
