Train services between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh via Shotts are returning to normal but some services will still be cancelled, delayed or revised.

Option 1 - Check if a rail journey is currently possible..
* Use the National Rail Enquiries real-time journey planner to check if you can continue your journey by rail.
Option 2 - Alternative Routes & Local Public Transport..
Customers can travel on alternative routes.
* Glasgow Central to Lanark - Customers can travel on these services for Uddingston, Bellshill and Motherwell.
* Glasgow Central Low Level services to Motherwell to connect in with local buses to Holytown, Hartwood and Shotts.
* Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh via Bathgate and via Falkirk High.
* If you have had to drive to another station your ticket will be valid to collect your car on your return journey. Speak to a member of staff to validate your ticket.
* We have arranged for your rail tickets to be accepted on local bus routes at no extra cost with Lothian Transport buses between Edinburgh City Centre and Curriehill on bus route 44 in both directions until end of service.
Option 3 - Rail Replacement Transport..
* We have two buses confirmed at Motherwell, provided by Arays at 21:00.
* We have two buses confirmed at Edinburgh Waverley, provided by City Circle at 21:15 and Merlins at 21:40.
* The City Circle bus has now departed Edinburgh Waverley at 21:30 and will call at stations via Shotts to Glasgow Central.
Option 4 - Consider travelling later..
* You might wish to consider postponing your journey until our services return to normal.

* Due to a broken down Freight train at Cleland earlier, the line towards Hartwood has now re-opened.
* The assisting unit and the broken down train are now on the move.
* Services between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh are returning to run as scheduled, but will be subject to delay, alteration and cancellation.
