Following a road vehicle colliding with a bridge between Kilmarnock and New Cumnock all lines have now reopened. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.
Impact:
Train services between Glasgow Central and Carlisle via Dumfries will be cancelled or revised.
Customer Advice:
Option 1 - Check if a rail journey is currently possible..
* Use the National Rail Enquiries real-time journey planner to check if you can continue your journey by rail.
* Local services between Glasgow Central and Kilmarnock/Barrhead.
* We have arranged for your valid ScotRail tickets to be accepted on Avanti trains between Glasgow Central & Carlisle.
* If you have had to drive to another station your ticket will be valid to collect your car on your return journey. Speak to a member of staff to validate your ticket.
Option 2 -
* Currently, we have not arranged for your rail tickets to be accepted on local bus routes as yet. We will monitor this situation as the incident develops.
Option 3 - Rail Replacement Transport
* Carlisle to Glasgow Central are termintaed at Dumfries passengers are advised to use station help point for our staff to assist you.
* The folowing replacement buses will run :-
* 19:00 Dumfries to Kilmarnock ARays Travel
* 21:00 Dumfries to Kilmarnock, then set down to Glasgow Central WestWay Coaches
* 23:30 Kilmarnock to Dumfries, then set down to Carlisle BC Travel
* Due to very limited replacement transport being secured, passengers are advised to consider making their own alternative arrangements.
Option 4 - Consider travelling later..
* You might wish to consider postponing your journey until our service's return to normal.
Additional Information:
* We've had reports of a vehicle striking a bridge between Mauchline & New Cumnock earlier.
* Sections of the bridge had to be demolished and made safe so no debris would fall on the track, this has now been carried out and iit is now safe to run trains again however due to crew and units being out of position we are unable to run last services.

20:40 Edinburgh to Perth due 22:04 has been delayed between Edinburgh Gateway and Inverkeithing and is now 10 minutes late.
This is due to a late running train being in front of this one.

The lifts will be out of order from now until further notice at Bathgate station.
